My role includes identifying local issues for blind/partially sighted people as well as working on natiaonl campaigns for the RNIB. I speak to local blind/partially sighted people and then communicate their issues on to councilllors/MPs via phone, email or face to face meetings.

My daily duties included developing systems with COBOL on an ICL mainframe as well as changing existing applications to cope with the Y2k issue. I created many of the reports seen within the West Midlands Police - it kind of became my speciality!
Despite being visually impaired I lead a fairly normal and interesting life. In fact, I treat the barriers I meet due to my disability as a 'redirection sign' and I never give up trying to find a way around them.
I am very easy to get on with and enjoy being part of a team, although I am quite capable of working on my own.
I enjoy learning new things, whether it is something to do with technology, a programming language or general knowledge.
I have many interests which include football, Formula one, NFL Football, Science fiction/Fantasy books and movies, Gaming and Ancient History. I also enjoy going out for walks with my dog, Velvet.
